Absolute cinema

This is a triumph in longform storytelling on the YouTube platform. It combines the simple but ultimately engaging progression of a shounen with machinina stunts creating a genuinely engaging and interesting watch from start to finish. If you can handle the frankly repetitive dialogue and sound effects (this was very obviously made for a younger attention-starved audience initially) then this is a lovely way to spend an afternoon or a couple days in chunks.

Yeah I totally get why obs was canceled after this, it must’ve taken a lot out of Sacri but I’ll miss it, it definitely had a lot of flaws and doesn’t quite hold up as well all these years later but it had some really cool ideas that I’ve never seen an object show do before or since and this episode is really representative of the series as a whole, the good and the bad

I don’t like the remaster but I do like Rocky (I mean that should be obvious, look at my username here) so that makes this the greatest episode of Inanimate Insanity of all time, I really like the new asset they give him and I’ll take any amount of Rocky content I can get even outside of his own show, the actual episode is whatever though

(Sigh) It’s alright I guess

Some of the eliminated contestants definitely could’ve been used better but at least they didn’t screw up Rocky

This holds up better than I thought it would

Despite being the longest episode in the series’ history it’s paced so well in a way that a lot of the longer videos in the series making the most of it’s time, probably one of the best of the series

If I had to pick a favorite episode of bfdi as a whole it’d probably be this, other episodes have gotten close, I love the more casual characters focused vibes of this era of bfdi, I love how much this episode is able to do with such a simple challenge and how with 42 contestants, the majority all have something to do, including Rocky who’s probably the best he’s ever been written here

I get why this was the first theater release, it’s episode that can be viewed on its own pretty well, and in a vacuum it’s incredible but it gets a little worse the more you think about it in the context of the wider series, I still really like the episode though even with its problems, the scene with Leafy was a clear standout here

I’m not even a big death battle person but I love revisiting this video, the fight is so cool and the outcome makes enough sense, Metal Sonic absolutely carried Eggman’s side

Did they do any quality control during post split, how did we get here

This was a great collab filled with very funny and entertaining people, with a good game to boot
